A man grabbed a 26-year-old woman from behind and cut her neck after she ignored him in an apartment lobby in Oct. 1.

Police are asking for help in finding a man who slashed a woman’s neck inside a Queens, New York, building lobby after she allegedly ignored him, CBS New York reports.

The suspect, who is believed to be about 20 years old, approached the 26-year-old woman on Oct. 1 at around 5:16 a.m. and began speaking with her against her will, police said.

When she turned away, the man grabbed her from behind and slashed her neck with an unspecified cutting tool. The encounter occurred in a Jamaica apartment lobby on 171 Street and was caught on film by surveillance cameras.

The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she was listed in critical but stable condition. NBC 4 New York spoke with an acquaintance of the victim, who claimed she is recovering, but has suffered damage to her vocal chords.

Police described the suspect as Black or Latino, with brown eyes and short black hair, weighing about 180 pounds and standing about 6-feet tall.
