Chicago Gun Violence: 5 Dead, 16 Wounded This Past Weekend
Five people died and 16 were injured in shootings across the city of Chicago this past weekend, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
On Sunday evening, a 30-year-old man was found on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound in his back. He was pronounced dead at the scene in the West Pullman neighborhood. A 24-year-old man was shot while attending a basement party early Sunday. He was struck in the face and taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
On the same day, a 27-year-old man was hit by a deadly bullet while in a vehicle. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and his death was confirmed by medical officials. Anthony Jackson, 22, was shot in the back while in a vehicle and died from the bullet, Saturday afternoon. His attacker was in a vehicle that pulled up alongside Jackson's vehicle and then opened fire.
Zoraida Feliciano, 33, was shot in the head while sitting in a vehicle in front of her home Saturday evening. A man who had been sitting in the vehicle with Feliciano before going inside their home, re-entered the vehicle and attempted to drive her to the hospital before crashing. Feliciano was taken by an ambulance to the hospital where she was pronounced dead at 1:03 p.m., the Sun-Times reports.
There have been 286 deaths by gun violence in Chicago in 2014, according to data collected by Red Eye Chicago's homicide tracker.
