This past Thanksgiving holiday weekend in Chicago ended with five people killed and 14 injured in gun violence across the city, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The latest fatal shooting happened Sunday afternoon when Darnell Williams was found with a gunshot to his back. He was transported to Christ Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Jahakel Clark, 15, was the youngest of the victims. He was shot and killed Friday afternoon. On Friday evening at a Nordstrom store on the second floor, Marcus Dee, 31, shot his ex-girlfriend Nadia Ezaldein and then fatally shot himself. Ezaldein was taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Joshua Rockett's body was found with bullet wounds to his back on Friday evening. He was pronounced dead shortly after officials found the 21-year-old. Also Friday, Oscar Garcia, 18, succumbed to a gunshot wound to his right eye. A suspect walked up to the man and fired shots at him in the Little Village neighborhood.
There have been 335 deaths by gun violence in Chicago in 2014 so far, according to data collected by Red Eye Chicago's homicide tracker.
