NYPD Cop Allegedly Punches Black Teen During Arrest

The woman who uploaded the video of the incident to Facebook claims that the suspect is 12 years old.

A recently released video allegedly shows a plainclothes New York City police officer punching a Black teen suspect multiple times in the body during an arrest, the New York Daily News reported on Friday.

The unidentified boy appears to be struck as three uniformed cops attempt to subdue and handcuff him. According to the New York Post, the incident took place on Monday before 4 p.m.

The police department has confirmed that Internal Affairs is investigating the arrest. It also claimed that the suspect and another young individual were arrested for assaulting another person with a cane, New York Daily News reported.

Bystander Sarah Doneghy reportedly uploaded the video to Facebook and alleged that the suspect who was punched was 12 years old.

“[The two suspects] had supposedly pushed one of their classmates down,” Doneghy wrote in the video caption. “However when the victim was asked, he said those weren’t the guys.”

“Hey! Hey! Hey!” one woman is heard yelling on the footage. “Stop it! Get off of him!”

“I can’t believe he just did that after everything that’s happened,” another witness said.

Recent incidents captured on video, including the fatal police-involved choke hold of Eric Garner, have sparked nationwide protests against police brutality and ill treatment toward African-Americans.
