Gun violence in the city of Chicago ended with three dead and 25 injured this past weekend, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The latest shooting death occurred Sunday evening in the Austin neighborhood, where Ron Hernandez, 45, was killed when his attacker walked up to him on the sidewalk to rob him. He was then shot in the abdomen. Hernandez was pronounced dead after he was taken to a hospital to be treated.
An 8-year-old boy was injured in the same attack.
Also on Sunday evening, Miguel Haro, 44, was shot to death in Cicero during a robbery. He and another man were doing work on a vacant home when the robbers demanded money. His partner gave up valuables, but when Haro did not, he was shot in the head.
A 19-year-old man named Johnny Coria was shot in the chest by a suspect who walked up to him and fired at him in the Little Village neighborhood Friday afternoon. He was taken to a nearby medical facility and pronounced dead.
There have been 356 homicides because of gun violence so far in 2014, according to Red Eye Chicago's homicide tracker.
