Extended Video of Shooting Shows Police Handcuffing Tamir Rice's Sister

Cleveland police restrained Tamir Rice's older sister, handcuffed her and forced her into a police car in a newly released surveillance video.

In a newly released 30-minute surveillance video, Cleveland police officers restrained Tamir Rice's older sister, handcuffed and forced her into a police car, Cleveland.com reports.
The 14-year-old girl was pushed down to the ground by officer Frank Garmback when she ran to her brother Tamir after officer Timonthy Loehmann fired gunshots at him. The extended video of the incident confirms Rice's family and attorney's claims on the police's misconduct in the incident.
Family attorney Benjamin Crump said the "crystal-clear HD" video shows "that the responding officers acted inappropriately and recklessly" in the situation, a statement reads.

"The family is outraged that rather than comfort a sister coming to the aid of her dying brother, the officers instead manhandled and tackled her, cuffed her and thoughtlessly tossed her in the back of a patrol car," he continued.
A 911 caller alleged that the boy had a pistol that was “probably fake,” prompting officers to check out the playground outside a recreation center. The caller noted that the person was “probably a juvenile” and had been pulling the suspected weapon in and out of his pants.

After officers arrived on the scene they reportedly told Rice to raise his hands. When Rice reached for his fake gun instead, one officer fired at him twice.

The replica gun was also missing the orange safety indicator typically located on the muzzle, AP reports. However, it was also noted that Rice did not point the fake gun at the officers or make any verbal threats.
