Someone Set Fire to Walter Scott Shooter's House

Former cop Michael T. Slager is out on bail awaiting trial.

Published January 9th

A suspicious fire broke out at the home of Michael T. Slager, the former South Carolina police officer charged with murder in the shooting death Walter Scott

Police officials stated that two people dressed in black were seen running away from the house at the time of the blaze, spurring an arson investigation. Slager’s neighbor put out the small fire at about 9:30pm local time on Friday.  It is unclear where or not Slager was at his house at the time of the fire.

Slager is accused of shooting Scott, 50, in the back as he ran away from the former officer during a traffic stop last April. Scott was found to be unarmed. The shooting was caught on tape and the video went viral, intensifying the national debate on police mistreatment of minorities by the police in the US.

Slager is under house arrest after he was released from jail on a $500,000 bail. His trial has been set for October. Watch a recap of the tragic event below:
