Tonight is a major reminder that this is the beginning of the end. With no more campaigns to run and just this year left in the White House, President Barack Obama will take the podium at the House Chamber to deliver his final State of the Union address.
BET is airing the special "President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address 2016" at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT on Centric and BET.com. Viewers can re-watch the special on BET at 2 a.m. EST/ 11 p.m. PST.
Award-winning journalist Marc Lamont Hill will be hosting the special from New York City. For additional analysis, BET has called on the political expertise of Angela Rye, a former executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus, and Paris Dennard, a conservative political strategic communications consultant.
Having entered the final days of his presidency, Obama is expected to run down how he was able to lead the nation during the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. From job growth to climate change and health care reform, Obama has begun to review how his administration worked to change America's outlook on progress.
"In his last State of the Union, President Obama will lay out the ways that we, as the American people, can once again come together in pursuit of a country worthy of generations to come," the White House wrote on their website.
