With political careers as long as our Democratic presidential candidates’, slip-ups in memory aren’t all too unbelieble. They happen. And in an election year, memory fails can be kind of epic.
For a recent example, at a campaign event in St. Louis, Hillary Clinton said of her competitor Bernie Sanders, “I don’t know where he was when I was trying to get health care in ’93 and ’94.”
Thanks to Mike Casca, a member of Sanders’ staff, the answer surfaced quickly and revealed blatant proof in the archival footage that Sanders was standing right behind her - literally.
In addition to not only being right behind her on the issue during a speech calling for a health care overhaul at Dartmouth College, Clinton thanked Bernie - in writing - for his “commitment to real heath care.”
