[Look] Photo of Sad Granddad Stood Up by Grandchildren for Family Dinner Goes Viral

Respect your elders!

Don’t mess with Papaw.

Twitter users taught one Oklahoma grandfather’s grandchildren about the importance of family after they stood him up for family dinner.

“Dinner with papaw tonight,” Kelsey Harmon tweeted on Wednesday. “He made 12 burgers for all 6 grandkids and I’m the only one who showed. Love him.”

The Northeastern State University student was Papaw’s only grandchild to show up, so she shared a snapshot of her grandfather sadly looking down at his burger as they ate.

The image immediately got reactions from the Twitter-verse with over 132,000 re-tweets and nearly 217,000 likes to date.

“I know next time I’ll come eat burgers with him,” one fan wrote, accompanied by sad crying-face emojis.

It also inspired numerous memes, with one user Photoshopping Papaw’s image on Drake’s Take Care album cover.

While many were showing love to Papaw, it went a bit too far when that love turned to death threats to the grandkids that didn’t show.

“Papaw is ok guys I promise & he loves all grandkids equally,” Harmon tweeted in response to the hateful comments. “Plz stop sending my cousins death threats everything is ok !!!”

Brock Harmon, one of the grandkids that didn’t show, did make up for his mistake by enjoying a meal with his Papaw shortly after.

“Papaw said he forgives me and wants all of you guys to know ya’ll are awesome for making him famous,” he tweeted, adding, “I asked Papaw what it felt like being the coolest grandpa in the world and he said it's nothing new that he’s been the coolest one for a while.”
