A routine morning visit to the toilet turned into a full on delivery for a Wisconsin teenager.
Braeley Pettigrew, a 17-year-old from Racine, Wisconsin, was shocked to find out that what she thought was a bowel movement was actually a baby.
The frightened teenager claimed that she had no idea she was pregnant as she was still getting her period and hadn't gained much weight.
After giving birth to her 5-pound son in the toilet she was able to cut the umbilical cord and wrap up the baby in towels.
Afraid of how her parents would react, she decided to tell her mom someone left the baby on the porch. However, after her mom found blood on Brealey’s clothes, the teen and baby were taken to the hospital.
Both mom and baby are in good health and after deciding to keep the child, Braeley named her new son Kayden.
Brealey says that she “never thought [she] would be having a baby at 17,” but she still plans to finish high school and attend college.
This is not the first instance of something like this happening.
There have been shows like TLC’s “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant,” that profiles many women who experienced similar surprise births.
Braeley is definitely one of the younger moms to have a story like this. Maybe she can create her own spin-off show and call it “I Didn’t Know I Was a Teen Mom.”
