Presenting a Day in the Life of a Young Black Coding Student

And all of the racism that ensues.

Rodney Sampson is the chief of diversity and inclusion initiatives at TechSquare Labs. As part of the program, 17 disconnected youth are enrolled in a code writing program called #CodeStart School.

During the second day of the program, an unforeseeable event occurred that highlighted the systemic racism in this country. Sampson took to Twitter and chronicled the experience.

Sampson recounted times that he had felt discrimination such as this.

Hopefully this recount will help to shed light on a type of racism that goes beyond what we see in the news. The problem clearly starts with a faulty system and it’s time to change it.
