Find Out Why This Heartbroken Mother Calls Her Own Husband a 'Monster'

Catherine St. Germaine's whole family fell apart with one phone call.

Colorado mother-of-two Catherine St. Germain has shared her heart -account of how her now ex-husband, a man she had known for 20 years, assaulted Germain's teenage daughter. She hopes that her sharing the video of her own story will lead to other parents being able to avoid going through the same painful experience that her family has faced.

In the video, which has been viewed over 51 million times in which Germain tells the story of how she discovered her then 15-year-old daughter Alyssa had been abused by Aaron Tyrell Scott

In the video, Germain holds up a series of cards on which she tells her story.

Alongside the video, she wrote, "Many of you know what Hell the last year has been for my family. I ask that you share this short video. I believe we must not remain silent, and instead shine a light on this dark subject."

Germain tells the story of how she fell in love with her ex-husband, a Navy veteran and former police officer. She said he was charming, intelligent and romantic. And when they got married in 2014 she was "soooo happy." Her whole life changed, however, last April, when "I got a call from the police; the night before he had sexually assaulted my daughter. She was 15," the card reads. She immediately filed for divorce, and while Scott maintained his innocence, the "DNA evidence came back positive."

Germain goes on to warn single mothers that "stranger danger is a joke," she continues in the video, "Monsters look and act normal. They are very good at hiding who they really are." She urged women to "check the National Sex Offender Registry" and to speak out about similar experiences they have faces, saying, "Secrecy and silence are how preditors [sic] get away with their crimes."

Since Germain released the video, she has received an outpouring of support. You're an amazing woman! Your bravery and strength are incredible," one Facebook user said. "This breaks my heart. However your strength and willingness to share your story is really incredible. I am proud of you," said another.

Many have also called out the authorities for not making Scott spend more time in jail than his shockingly low 90-day sentence. Germain actually took to Facebook again on Tuesday to reveal that her ex-husband had been released from jail that day. She said, "I knew today would come, but 90 days went by way too fast."
