[Devastating] Mother Set To Testify Against Gang Member Who Paralyzed Her Toddler Meets Violent End

Bianca Horton, 26, died under mysterious circumstances.

Bianca Horton, a 26-year-old mother who was just months away from testifying against a shooter that left her 1-year-old daughter paralyzed, has been found dead under very mysterious circumstances.

Horton was found dead on the side of the road in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Wednesday morning. The mother of four was being used as an important witness in the case against a man who was accused of paralyzing her daughter in a quadruple homicide that took place on January 7th, 2015.

Bianca and her daughter, Zoey were learning how to cope with Zoey's disabilities together, with Zoey using a pink, toddler sized wheelchair, and Bianca learning how to help her young daughter clear mucus out of lungs, which had been affected by the shooting.

The suspect in the shooting that left Zoey paralyzed, Cortez Sims, is a validated gang member. Before her death, Horton had been a witness in the case against Sims leaving some to believe that her death was an attempt to keep her from divulging any more information in the case. Neither the District Attorney General's office, nor the prosecutor, Executive Assistant District Attorney Lance Pope would comment on what Horton's role may have been in the case moving forward.

The news of her death hit the local police office hard, as Bianca had grown close with many officers during her road to recovery with Zoey. "This one is very painful for the police department," police chief Fred Fletcher said.

Chattanooga mayor Andy Berke also released a statement, saying, "Today I received devastating news that Bianca Horton was found dead. This loss of life is a loss to our entire community. Ms. Horton has been through so much. Her family and her daughter deserve our support and justice."
