Apartment of Horrors: Young Couple Moves Into New Crib and Finds a Dead Body In the Closet

That's not even the weirdest part.

A young couple was ready to begin their life together in a New York City apartment, but instead of a simple move-in day, the two discovered something horrific; a dead body wrapped in a shower curtain, and a note from the apparent killer.

The New York Daily News reported that the still unidentified 18-year-olds made the discovery after they smelled a horrible stench coming from a cupboard. When they investigated further and found the rotting corpse of the Bronx apartment's former tenant, 64-year-old Ex-con Sidney Harris. Next to the note was a note left by the killer that apologized "for the smell."

Authorities have not yet determined how long Harris' body had been in the apartment but neighbors at the apartment complex had reported a stench so bad it was keeping them up at night. Another tenant, who is thought to be the building manager, said he decided to rent out the apartment after he hadn't seen Harris for some time. He said he believed that he was at the hospital and "wouldn't be back," police sources explained. The building manager also explained that he offered the apartment to the couple with the agreement that they would clean it out.

Neighbors described Harris as a "sweet guy" despite the fact that he had been arrested 11 times on charges that included statutory rape, drug possession, and robbery.

Investigators swept the apartment for further clues as to who is behind Harris' death; police have begun a hunt for the killer.
