The Story Behind the Man Who Attacked His Ex Girlfriend's New Boyfriend With a Machete
Police arrested a scorned Long Island, New York, man for a deadly attack involving a machete and the new love interest of an ex.
When Santos Torres, 42, found out the identity of the man his ex-girlfriend started seeing, he planned a vicious attack. Torres tracked down the location of 39-year-old Jose Hernandez with a machete in hand.
Torres approached Hernandez outside of a house in the Brentwood section of Long Island and immediately began to hack away at the new lover. When the attack finished, a wounded and bloody Hernandez stumbled up to a home, banged on the door, and begged for help.
After Suffolk County police arrived on the scene, officers found Hernandez bleeding from several deep slashes. Hernandez was transported to Southside Hospital and immediately underwent surgery.
They later found and arrested Torres for charges of felony assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today. The identity of the ex-girlfriend has not been publically released.
