Look: Autopsy Reveals Zymere Perkins Suffered a Devastating Amount of Abuse

The 6-year-old's life was violently cut short.

The autopsy report for 6-year-old Zymere Perkins revealed the child endured severe abuse over a long period of time, reported the New York Post

“The cause of death is fatal child abuse syndrome,” said Julie Bolcer, the Medical Examiner Office’s spokeswoman. “The manner of death is homicide.”

According to Bolcer, Perkins’s report showed that he suffered from both chronic and acute abuse, which ultimately led to his death. She also stated that the child was neglected during the abusive time period.

In late September, Perkins’s mother, Geraldine Perkins, 26, and her boyfriend, Rysheim Smith, 42, were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

However, after the release of the autopsy, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office suggested that their charges could be upgraded.

When Zymere was found unconscious on September 26, cops concluded that he was beaten with a broomstick in his West 135th Street apartment in Manhattan.

The beating was prompted by him defecating in a bucket in the family’s apartment, reported the post.
