Watch: Jewish Mother Says Teens Made Swastika Cupcake at Daughter’s Birthday Party

Is this a product of Trump's new America?

An Arizona Jewish teen's birthday party in Paradise Valley came to an abrupt halt when two teenage attendees decorated their cupcake with a swastika symbol, reported KPNX.

  1. The teen's mother, who asked to remain anonymous, posted a photo of the cupcake to her facebook page, which has since been made private

In the original Facebook post, the girls told the Jewish teen's mom they did it to “be funny,” and all of the girls are still friends.

  2. The mother said the girls have since apologized, and they used this as a moment to teach the harm certain words and symbols can cause

Carlos Galindo-Elvira, the director of the Anti-Defamation League in Arizona, said parents need to teach their children that certain symbols, like a swastika, are representations of hate.

"When you joke with symbols like the swastika you begin to normalize them and make it very casual within our society,” Galindo Elvira told 12 News.
