[Update] Watch: Victoria's Secret Fired White Store Manager After Viral Racial Discrimination Incident

And here's how people are responding to the racist employee being let go.

Victoria's Secret recently issued an apology to an Alabama woman after a store employee unlawfully forced her to leave the Quintard Mall location in Oxford because of her race.

According to Kimberly Houzah, while she shopped on Thursday, another Black woman shoplifted from the store. Then as a precaution, the store manager, who Houzah identified as Faith, asked her and another Black female to leave the store.

Houzah and the other woman had no connection to the woman who stole merchandise; however, they felt that they were still unfairly discriminated against.

  • As Houzah left the store, she recorded an emotional Facebook Live video

  • Immediately, people of all backgrounds sympathized with Houzah and demanded the store take appropriate action against the employee

  • Several women even pledged to return items they've purchased from the store because of Houzah's horrific experience

  • The same day, Houzah returned to the mall with about 50 protesters

“I never gave her a reason to think that I was stealing,” Houzah told CNN affiliate WIAT at the mall on Thursday afternoon. “It’s completely unacceptable, because nobody else was asked to leave the store.”

  • On Thursday evening, the company issued a statement that affirmed the removal of the store employee

"We take the experience of our customer at the Quintard Mall very seriously and have reached out to her directly to express our sincere apology," Victoria's Secret wrote in a Facebook post. "What happened at our store should not have happened and does not represent who we are or what we stand for. The store associate involved in this matter is no longer employed with the company. Victoria’s Secret is adamant that all customers regardless of race be treated with dignity and respect at all times."

  • Several people have thanked the company for attempting to right the situation

  • While some still want more action to be taken
