Watch: Some Are Calling Out President Trump Over Fake Display Of 'Respect' For Bill And Hillary Clinton

He requested the former first couple receive a standing ovation and it's not sitting well with many on Twitter.

It’s no secret that Donald Trump can be a hypocrite. Like, he often says one thing, does another, or contradicts himself even within the same sentence.

That’s what happened on Inauguration Day. While taking the podium during an inaugural luncheon, the now-president asked the entire room to give a standing ovation to Bill and Hillary Clinton, who were seated at the event.

“I was very honored — very, very honored — when I heard that President Bill Clinton and Secretary Hillary Clinton [were] coming today,” Trump said. “And honestly there’s nothing more I can say because I have a lot of respect for those two people,” Trump added while pointing to the Clintons.

Wow. After all those months of calling Hillary Clinton “Crooked Hillary” and encouraging his supporters to yell the chant “Lock. Her. Up” on the campaign trail, could it have been all politics?

Twitter isn’t buying it.

“Trump said he has a lot of respect for Hillary? I thought he said a few months back she should be in prison,” someone tweeted. Magnanimous move by President Trump to recognize and lead applause for Hillary Clinton, a woman he spent months calling “crooked," another person wrote.
