Ruthless MS-13 Members Arrested for Brutally Beating Nisa Mickens and Kayla Cuevas to Death and Hacking Their Bodies With Machetes
On Thursday, 13 members of the well-known gang MS-13 were indicted for a surge of violence on Long Island — including the brutal killing of teen best friends Nisa Mickens, 15, and Kayla Cuevas, 16. Ten of the adult members arrested were undocumented immigrants, while two were legal permanent residents and one was a green card holder.
Mickens and Cuevas were terribly beaten and killed with machetes in Brentwood, New York, while walking home from school in September of 2016.
According to the New York Times, the gang members will go to trial on April 10.
The Suffollk County Police Department has been diligent in finding members of the dangerous gang after violence in the community spiked.
“We have promised to eradicate MS-13 from our streets, and we remain committed to finishing the job,” Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy Sini said during a press conference.
Elizabeth Alvarado, the mother of Nisa Mickens, remembered being “very pissed off” when she learned that her daughter’s life was taken by illegal immigrants.
“They’re evil. They’re coming over the border, then coming back after they get kicked out,” she said, according to the NY Post. “Things should change. It shouldn’t take my daughter’s death.”
Due to the current conversation surrounding illegal immigrants and crime, some are using this case as a way to defend Donald Trump's motion to crack down on violence committed by illegal immigrants.
