People Are Slamming Trump For Asking Congress To Investigate Erroneous Claim Obama Tapped His Phone

Via his press secretary, Trump says he wants intelligence committees to look into his claims that the Obama White House wiretapped his office during the campaign.

Donald Trump’s been trying to throw a wrench into a potential congressional investigation of his ties to Russia prior to the election. The “nothing to see here” approach wasn’t working, so now he’s trying to flip it around and say the previous administration illegally wiretapped his office.

  • After tweeting about the erroneous Obama-ordered wiretapping, Trump’s press secretary Sean Spicer issued a statement relaying that the president has requested congressional intelligence committees to investigate whether the Obama administration ordered a wiretapping of The Donald’s office in Trump Tower last year during the campaign.

Initially, an Obama spokesperson said he ordered no such wiretapping and that a suggestion of such would be “simply false.” Trump or his administration has yet to provide any evidence that his office was bugged.

Twitter has obviously been going crazy over the proposed investigation. “Republicans trying to spin legit calls for a Trump-Russia investigation into ‘Investigate Obama’ is the weakest s**t I've ever seen in life,” one user tweeted.
