Details Behind the Disturbing Case of a Teen Who Forced a 14-Year-Old to Have Sex With Over 26 Men for Money

Denise Coronado could face up to life in prison.

A Texas 19-year-old could spend the rest of her life in prison after allegedly forcing a 14-year-old girl into a life of prostitution.

Denise Coronado — also known by her nickname "Bones Marie" — recently posted a photo on Facebook of stacks of bills. Coronado also attached a caption which boasted about how she didn’t need a job, according to the Houston Chronicle.

As it turns out, that money could have been from the sexual acts she forced a teen runaway to participate in against her will.

"It’s alleged that the runaway, a 14-year-old, was abducted," said Assistant District Attorney JoAnne Musick. "She had multiple men brought in to have sex with her while her captors collected the money."

According to court documents, the unidentified 14-year-old was abducted and taken to the woods where she was then raped by a man while Coronado stood by as a witness. Just a few days later, the teen was taken to a motel, photographed in lingerie and advertised on the escort site, Backpage.com.

  • Prosecutors argued Coronado then forced the teen to have sex with 26 men throughout the week. In order to get the teen to comply, she was threatened and burned with a cigarette. At the end of the week, the 14-year-old escaped and contacted help.

Ruben Perez, the chief of the district attorney's special crimes division, spoke to the sex trafficking nature of the case.

"We're not going to tolerate human traffickers, pimps or pimpettes enslaving our kids, enslaving our people in our county," Perez said. "We have a cadre of lawyers willing to prosecute these people and we're ready."

Coronado’s attorney also encouraged the court to look at the entire picture and suggested that his client could also have been forced into the situation by the older man who raped the teen.

"I have a feeling that, in the end, there might be two victims here and not just one," said court appointed attorney Joe David Wells. "Remember, my client is a teenager, also."

Coronado remains in Harris County Jail on a $100,000 bail.
