A man in Las Vegas was arrested Sunday after police found him on the side of the road having sex with a dead woman.  

Joseph G. Martinez, 57, was arrested and charged on one count of unlawful sexual penetration of a dead body, reported Las Vegas Review-Journal.

According to his arrest report, police arrived around 4:30 p.m. after hearing reports of a sexual assault taking place on the side of the road. Police said the dead woman appeared to be homeless and had no identification on her.

Martinez is being held at Clark County Detention Center without bail. When speaking with police, he claimed he had met the woman the night before when she was alive, but she later died.

According to the arrest report, a coroner investigator determined the woman had died two to four hours before police found Martinez with the woman.

The Clark County coroner’s office had not determined her cause of death as of Thursday. She was 35, according to the office.
