Disgusting Video of Georgia Cop Brutally Beating an Unarmed Black Woman With His Baton Leads to Investigation

Officer P.J. Larscheid claimed 38-year-old Katie McCrary reached for his badge.

Police in DeKalb County, Georgia, are investigating an officer who was recording using excessive force during an arrest of an unarmed woman on June 4.

In the nearly two-minute video, Officer P.J. Larscheid repeatedly hit 38-year-old Katie McCrary, who was suspected of solicitation at a Chevron gas station, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

In a statement released to the media, DeKalb police spokeswoman Officer Shiera Campbell said the department had no idea the video existed until last weekend.

In the police report filed by Larscheid, the officer said McCrary told him she was a federal agent and gave a “random badge number” as she attempted to move past him. Then Larscheid warned the woman she could be charged for impersonating an officer, according to the report.

McCrary allegedly attempted to grab the officer’s badge, which prompted him to take out his baton.

When she resisted and refused his commands, McCrary was subjected to “an unknown amount of baton strikes to her left leg,” according to the report.

At that point, McCrary dropped to the ground and began kicking the officer, the report states.

“I continued my baton strikes to her legs and forearms instructing her to stop resisting and to lay down with her hands behind her back,” Larscheid wrote in his report. “One strike inadvertently struck the side of her head as she was moving around.”

The report states that paramedics responded to evaluate McCrary and she was served a criminal trespass citation and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and released.

Based on the video footage, Larscheid is under investigation by his superiors.

"The incident was investigated by his supervisor, as well as Internal Affairs,” Campbell said in the statement. “The narrative in the officer’s report appears to be consistent with the video.”

She said the officer was cleared following that investigation; however, Larscheid was put on restricted/administrative duty on Tuesday.

“Now that the Department has this new evidence,” Campbell said in her statement, “we are looking to determine whether the incident is consistent with policy and the law.”

McCrary was in jail Tuesday after being arrested Friday on a prostitution charge.
