Donald Trump Is Taking a 17-Day Vacation After Years of Bashing Barack Obama for Taking Any Time Off as President

Trump has already taken off more than three times as many days as Obama in his first year to this point.

Donald Trump once again has left the White House to embark on a vacation, however this time it isn’t a measly weekend getaway. Oh, no.

  • The Commander-in-Chief is taking presidential laziness to new levels by heading to the East Coast on a 17-day “I forgot where I work” relaxation stint. Just yesterday (August 5) The Donald promised that he’d be working mostly during the vacation, but turned around and hit the links that same afternoon just hours earlier.

What makes it so infuriating isn’t that he’s taking a vacation, although we believe he should be spending more time, you know, running the country (actually, we don’t want that either), it is because Trump is the very person who criticized Barack Obama for taking far less vacation time for himself while he was in office.

So far the 45th president has had 53 “leisure” days through August 2017 compared to Obama’s 15 through 2009. That’s like more than three times as many.

During the campaign, Trump said that he wouldn’t be taking any time off and that he’d be so busy making deals that he wouldn’t even have time for leisure.

“I would rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done,” Trump said in July 2015. “I would not be a president who took vacations. I would not be a president that takes time off. “

I’m going to be working for you,” Trump later said in August 2016. “I’m not going to have time to go play golf.”

Ummmm. Someone’s playing Pinocchio over here, and his nose is growing. Reaction from social media to Donald Trump’s newly announced 17-day vacation was expectedly angry. See some of the disappointment below.
