On August 21, many people took a break from their day, snagged a pair of special glasses, and viewed the solar eclipse. Besides enjoying the view, NASA scientists had one rule for everyone gazing at the eclipse: Do not stare directly at the sun.

For President Trump, August 21 was a day like any other, because he did exactly what someone said not to do.

  2. He did eventually put on the special eclipse viewing glasses
  3. But it was too late, as the glasses-less image became a viral meme
