Instead of going to trial on charges of felony gross sexual imposition, a former East Cleveland police officer has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two women with a sex toy during an illegal traffic stop.

Kenneth Bolton Jr., 49, was also pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor of interfering with civil rights. In exchange for his plea, Cuyahoga County prosecutors dropped an additional kidnapping charge, reported Cleveland.com.

As a result of the charges, Bolton lost his license to be a police officer and must register as a sex offender. Bolton’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 16.

The illegal traffic stop took place in February and prosecutors say that Bolton stopped a car of two women, ages 22 and 23, about 30 minutes after he heard another officer cite them over the police radio. During the Feb. 23 stop, Bolton found a sex toy in the car of two women and rubbed their genitals over their clothing with the toy, according to New York Daily News.

Within two weeks of the stop, Bolton, a 16-year veteran of the department, was fired.

East Cleveland Police Chief Michael Cardilli's letter of termination to Bolton says Bolton made a statement to the county prosecutor's office "admitting to numerous misdemeanor and felony laws that you have recently violated."
