Missing Teen Ashanti Billie's Remains Found In Charlotte, North Carolina
The body of missing teen Ashanti Billie has been found behind a church in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Police Department.
A pastor said the Virginia Beach college student’s remains were found in a field when a landscaping employee was working behind the church. Martin Culbreth, Special Agent in Charge of the Norfolk Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation issued a statement after it was confirmed that the body was in-fact Billie’s.
“It is with deep regret that I inform the community that Ashanti Billie has been located, deceased, in Charlotte, North Carolina,” he said. “I, along with the entire investigative team, offer our most sincere condolences to the Billie family, especially Ashanti’s parents Brandy and Tony. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.”
Billie, who was from Maryland, attended culinary school in Norfolk and was last seen at around 4 a.m. on September 18 at the Midtown at Town Center Apartments. Police later discovered her car on September 23.
Local FBI agents are investigating her death along with police in Charlotte. A cause of death has yet to be determined.
