Dewey Bozella

After the initial charges for the 1977 burglary and murder of a 92-year-old woman in New York were dismissed against Dewey Bozella, he was again tried and convicted for the crime six years later when two inmates fraudulently claimed Bozella’s guilt. Bozella, who was exonerated in Oct. 2009 after spending 26 years behind bars, channeled his energy into boxing and would go on to win the 2011 ESPY Arthur Ashe Courage Award for his triumph over adversity.
