Alan Newton

Alan Newton had requested DNA testing after he was convicted in the 1984 rape, assault and robbery of a woman in Bronx, New York, but the court denied his request because the initial rape kit could not be found. In 2005, the rape kit was finally located and was used to prove that Newton was not the attacker in the crime. He was exonerated in July 2006.  (photo: Courtesy The Innocence Project)
