Cover Story Controversy
Rapper T.I. came to the defense of Tracy Morgan’s much-maligned rant in the December 2011 issue of Vibe Magazine, much to the chagrin of the gay advocacy group. In the article, the star said that gay people are “too sensitive” to anti-gay sentiment and reasoned that “If you're gay, you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you're against it, you should have the right to be against it in peace." In a statement on its website, GLAAD posted that the rapper “failed to acknowledge that LGBT people cannot be ‘gay in peace’ while others fuel an environment of hostility by using anti-gay slurs and advocating violence against people who happen to be gay.
