Red, White and Blues

On Feb. 21, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama opened their famous home up to some of the biggest names in music for a concert paying homage to blues music, “In Performance at the White House: Red, White and Blues,” in recognition of Black History Month. The showcase marked the eighth installment in the “In Performance at the White House” series, which the the Obamas launched in 2009. Past events have honored the influential careers of Stevie Wonder and Sir Paul McCartney and have celebrated Black History Month with events featuring music from the Civil Rights Movement and Motown. Click on to see the legends who took the stage at the event, which was hosted by Taraji P. Henson, with noted bandleader Booker T. Jones serving as music director. The show will air nationally on PBS on Monday, Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. ET.—Britt Middleton
