Robert Champion Case Moves Forward
Thirteen people have been charged in the hazing death of Robert Champion, the Florida A&M University drum major who died Nov. 19, 2011, in an initiation ritual. According to court records, Champion died after being struck with fists, drum mallet straps and being kicked repeatedly by members of the university’s famed “Marching 100” band. Eleven of the defendants face felony hazing charges which carry a sentence of up to six years in prison if convicted. Two others face misdemeanor charges in the hazing of two other students and could serve 30 days in prison or pay a $500 fine. Keep reading to see the complete list of defendants. —Britt Middleton
