Miranda v. Arizona (1966)

Ernest Miranda admitted to a kidnapping and rape after hours of police interrogation, but in this landmark case, the Supreme Court agreed that police must inform suspects of their rights — including the right to remain silent — before questioning. The warning that police read to people being arrested was named after him.
