Saving Those Pennies

After hitting a nearly four-year high of $77 in August, Americans scaled back their daily household spending to an average of $74 a day during the month of September, according to a Gallup poll released on Oct. 5. Pollsters credit the decrease to a dip in back-to-school shopping and the uncertainty of the presidential election outcome.
