The Week in Polls: Americans Urge Compromise to Avoid Fiscal Cliff
Six of One; Half-Dozen of Another
As lawmakers debate the best way to avoid the fiscal cliff, Americans support President Obama's call for a balanced approach. In a Gallup poll released Nov. 14, 45 percent of Americans said they favor an equal measure of tax increases and spending cuts, compared to 32 percent who said the same a year ago.
