Forgiveness, Cancellation and Discharge

While you are obligated to repay your loans even if you don't complete your education, there are certain circumstances where your student loan debt can be forgiven, canceled or even discharged. For example, federal Direct Loans may be discharged if your school closes while you're enrolled and you do not complete your education because of the closure.
