Fuel Economy Standards for Passenger Vehicles

The Obama administration has already implemented an aggressive plan for passenger vehicles. These standards require an equivalent of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025, saving the average driver more than $8,000 in fuel costs over the lifetime of the vehicle. It is estimated that 6 billion metric tons of carbon pollution will be eliminated in the process. (Photo: GettyImages)
