The Lincoln Memorial Steps

Demonstrators gather at the Memorial steps in 1963.  Similarly, thousands gathered on those same steps 50 years later to pay homage to a generation of activists that endured fire hoses, police abuse and other indignities to demand equality for African-Americans.
