Rochelle Ballantyne

Rochelle, 17, made headlines in 2011 for her extraordinary chess abilities. As a member of Brooklyn Castle, the highest ranked junior high chess team in the country at Brooklyn’s I.S. 318, Rochelle has her sights set on becoming the first African-American female chess master ever. She won a full scholarship to Stanford University in 2013.
