What Percentage of the African-American Population Receives Food Stamps?

A total of 18 percent of American adults (18 and over) have received food stamps. According to a 2012 Pew Research Center study, 31 percent of African-Americans have received food stamps compared to 15 percent of white Americans. Food stamps constitute 26 percent of total monthly income for a typical African-American family in the SNAP program.
