Jonathan Ferrell, a former football player at Florida A&M, was trying to get help when he was shot 10 times and killed by Officer Randall Kerrick last month. Kerrick was suspended and charged with involuntary manslaughter less than 24 hours after the incident. Now critics are opposing the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s decision stating that Kerrick may have a case based on Florida’s infamous “Stand Your Ground” law.
