Students Rally Against Hate Crime at San Jose State

Three white students at San Jose State University thought it would be funny to tie a metal bicycle lock around the neck of their Black roommate and nickname him “three-fifths” in reference to slavery in November. They also locked him inside his room and hung a Confederate flag in his window. The attackers face misdemeanor hate-crime and battery charges. (Photo: AP Photo/San Jose Mercury News, Karl Mondon)
