Complaints of Profiling in Department Stores Creates a Firestorm

Shop and Frisk became a national issue after two African-American New Yorkers said they were racially profiled and detained while shopping in Barneys and Macy’s. By Oct. 24, the shoppers said they were suing the stores. It led to discussions between civil rights groups and a number retailers focusing on how Black shoppers are treated.
