Bishop Oliver C. Allen will be inducted on April 3 into the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College as the first openly gay minister who is married to a man. Bishop Allen, who studied at Morehouse, has drawn national attention in the past; he and his husband Rashad Burgess and their daughter made Ebony Magazine’s list of America’s coolest families.
