South Carolina State Redirects Federal Funds to Keep School Afloat
The financial secrets of South Carolina State University became public after State Inspector General Patrick J. Maley released his report. He discovered that while not fraudulent the university has been misappropriating federal funds to cover up its financial mishaps. According to Maley, SCSU borrowed $456,553 from a grant during the 2006-07 fiscal year, but by February 2014 the sum had reached a total of $6.5 million.
