2014's Juneteenth Freedom Celebrations

Juneteenth is the oldest celebration commemorating the end of slavery. It marks the day when Union soldiers marched to Galveston, Texas, and told slaves that they were free on June 19, 1865, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Today, cities across the country remember the event through music, fun and festivals. Take a look to see if your city is celebrating the day. (Photo: Courtesy United States Postal Service)
