Nearly 1,000 Attend Rally to Save SCSU - Following news that South Carolina State University may be closing its doors for two years, the South Carolina NAACP and students rallied to save the school. Rev. Joe Darby, an alumni and local minister, said SCSU has been neglected by the state. A House Subcommittee approved the temporary closure. “We need to say loud and clear that we're tired of just getting by. A new million-dollar grant will fund a program called Bronco STAR, on the campus of Fayetteville State University, to keep these at-risk students on track to success, according to the Fayetteville Observer.
