Are Blacks Worse Off Under Obama?

Bard College professor Walter Russell Mead recently wrote a piece for The American Interest making the controversial claim that "the giant step forward" that America took by electing its first Black president in 2008, turned out to be "a giant step back for Black Americans." He points to factors such as the rise in unemployment in the Black community and said that the "elite" Blacks, like Obama, are out of touch with the lower and middle class Blacks, contributing to frustrations that could soon boil over.
